BUSY on LAN: Run One Company on Several PCs

Set up BUSY multi-user on LAN: share the data folder from the server PC, set the data directory on clients, BUSY Agent, and SQL ports and firewall settings.
Access database
Server PC
See the data folder in Company > Set Data Directory and share it on the network.
Client PC
Company > Set Data Directory, browse to the shared folder, then reopen BUSY on both PCs.
BUSY Agent
Run BUSY Agent on the server with the data directory set.
SQL database
- Enable TCP/IP and Named Pipes in SQL Server Configuration Manager, port 1433
- Allow port 1433 in the firewall (inbound and outbound) and antivirus
- On the client give the server name or LAN IP and SQL login
- Keep BUSY Agent and the dongle server running on the server PC

Menu names as given in BUSY's own help on busy.in; they can differ slightly by BUSY version, plan and configuration. Take a backup before changing settings.

How do I use BUSY on two computers?
With a multi-user licence: share the data folder from the server PC and point the client's data directory to it (Access), or connect clients to the SQL server.
Client cannot connect to the SQL server?
Check port 1433 in SQL and the firewall, BUSY Agent running on the server and the server name on the client. See our SQL connection guide.
